Starter Switch

Here's the wiring at the back of the starter switch. I tested the switch by turning the key to start and heard the starter contactor close. I also saw voltage at the starter cable where I have it disconnected from the starter to prevent inadvertent activation of the big 40 lb fan attached to the front of the engine.

Austin was home and drilled the firewall and attached the penetration hardware that will be the pass-through for the engine monitor wires and the starter switch to magneto wires.

GPS Antenna Shelf

I'm working on a shelf for the two GPS antennas. I'm planning to put them under the engine cowl mounted to the upper engine mount. Many have put them there and don't have problems. They won't be too hard to move if I change my mind. The white one (in the picture) is for the certified Garmin GPS and the other hole is for the Dynon.

Here's my first test fit on the engine mount. The firewall penetration for the antenna cables is to the left of the left white antenna. Looks like it's going to work fine and was easy except that it's always hard to drill stainless.

Seats, Interior and Carpet

Here are the seats, interior and carpet piled onto Austin's bed. I've had most of them in the airplane but have taken them out to finish working on wiring and avionics. I'll definitely leave it out when I start on the canopy. All from Classic Aero Designs. Really beautiful, quality work. Paula picked out the colors and they look great. It's their new Sportsman 2 interior package.

Tail Light Installed

I've installed the tail light and all the wiring where I crimped Molex pins for the first time. I practiced on about 10 pins after reading instructions from aeroelectric connection and watching four videos on youtube. I still need to put the screws in but that's a quick job. It has a solid white light for the navigation lights and a flashing strobe. The strobe is really bright; so much so that the manufacturer said to use welding goggles if you need to look at them up close. Austin was home and he confirmed the recommendation after looking at them and seeing spots.

Our camera bit the dust so I haven't posted in a while but I have been busy building. This picture is from an ipad.
